ROBERT DOUGLAS

Robert is originally from Guernsey one of the U.K.Channel Islands.

Following a Grammar school education he was accepted to spend his early years at St Martins School of Art in London. Specialising in colour and design his first employment was in the display and design department at Heals of London, the leading furniture store in the Tottenham Court Rd. Following this Robert formed Douglas Interiors Ltd.creating interios for such people as David Frost,Paul McCartney,Rod Stewart

By the late 80’s Robert had set up Vision Options Ltd with a studio and offices in London’s Catharine St, Covent Garden, working with some of the largest advertising agencies in the UK.

Vision Options Ltd specialised in many forms of optical and visual effects, such as lenticular and holographic  images. Creating campaigns for Budweiser,Kelloggs,BP,HSBC and many others using creative technologies Robert experimented with many new materials and processes. Some of his holograms are in museums and galleries as far afield as the Museum of the Moving Image in Brisbane, Australia.

Privately in the 90’s Robert was installing some of his own artwork in Corporate headquarters and hotels merely as an offshoot of his talents and a need to get his personal work on show.

The new millennium brought massive advances in plastic technologies and kinetic plastics allowed images to move or create dramatic effects. Robert now works with kinetic plastics and on special parabolic materials giving 3D or movement to some his artwork and called collectively KINETIC TRIP-ART

NEW works in 2022 now have up to SIX colour changes within the interactive artwork.

All this past experience has now been brought to bear on his most vibrant paintings. Some images are soft and subtle while others mind-blowingly active. The latest portfolio has seen the use of some of Robert’s designs on fabrics and other merchandise which excitingly is a very new platform for his work.

Collectors have been buying these works over the years and hanging exciting paintings of this type in a wide range of environments to invoke a sense of curiosity and the constant exploration of colour immediately stimulates the mind.
